Watsu is a form of body therapy performed in warm water. It combines elements of massage, stretching, shiatsu and joint mobilisation. It's used, like massage for both therapy and stress reduction.

WHERE DID WATSU ORIGINATE?
Watsu originated in the 1980's in Harbin Hot Springs in California. There shiatsu practitioner Harold Dull began giving shiatsu in the pool is Harbin and watsu evolved from there.

WHAT AILMENTS DOES WATSU TREAT? 
Watsu is used to treat a wide variety of conditions .orthopaedic conditions like back pain, neurologic conditions like parkinsons and rheumatologic conditions like fibromyalgia. The technique is adapted to the specific needs of the client. 

WHAT ARE THE BENFITS OF WATSU?
Watsu promotes pain relief and relaxation. More specifically it increases joint mobility and decreases muscle spasm.

WHAT ARE THE AFTER EFFECTS OF WATSU?
Watsu frees the body. Generally after a watsu session people move easier, with less pain. As a result they experience an improvement in their day to day functioning. Clients also report a significant improvement in sleep patterns. 

ARE ALL WATSU SESSIONS SIMILAR?
No. That is the beauty of watsu. Each session is uniquely different. For each session people arrive with a new set of experiences and challenges in their body. So one week a session may incorporate slow rhythmical movements and the next week more spiral dance like movements. 

WHAT DOE IT FEEL LIKE RECEIVING WATSU?
Each persons experience is different. Many clients speak of a deep level of relaxation never felt before. Some speak of a complete sense of bliss. Others refer to it as heavenly. 

IS WATSU A MODALITY THAT CAN BE USED ON PREGNANT WOMEN? 
Absolutely. Watsu is adapted according to the needs of the client.Pregnant women love the weightlessness of the water and experience a great sense of relief.

DO YOU USE ANY FLOATATION DEVICES? 
Yes. We sometimes use floatation devices around the legs to help people float
